Talbott, Tennessee is a small, unincorporated community that spans both Jefferson and Hamblen counties. Its population is close to 9,000, and it covers about 27 square miles of land. Talbott has its own post office and is home to Talbott Elementary School, which enrolls some 225 students and has 29 staff members. Talbott also has a tourist attraction – the one and only Frightmare Manor. This "screampark" boasts four separate attractions: a Victorian manor house said to be haunted by the ghost of a fictitious serial killer, a haunted barn where the serial killer performed hideous experiments creating zombie-like creatures, a haunted woods where the victims were buried, and the "Nightmare at Frightmare" challenge. Anyone successfully completing this challenge gets the entire price of their admission refunded.
Talbott is in a hilly region of the Appalachians, and its elevation of about 1200 feet above sea level keeps its temperatures in the moderate range. Summers are cooler than in the flatter areas of southern and western Tennessee, but winters may be a bit colder. In fact, from December through February, there may be a certain amount of snowfall, perhaps three or four inches per month.
